Blue Line to Blue Line with CreMAGnaVol

Plyometrics is the eccentric loading or stretching of a muscle and its subsequent rapid contraction (power). It focuses on body weight exercises that build agility, strength and power through movements such as jump squats, lunges, and pop pushups. Plyometrics can be performed in full body style workouts every other day.  

Weighted Power training works to recruit fast twitch muscle fibers by using lighter than maximal lifts to move the weight as quickly as possible.  Moreover, it trains the nervous system to recruit them in a synchronized fashion. 

Dynamic (Ballistic) training is a combination of weighted power and plyometric training.  It works to engage prime movers to propel objects (medicine balls, tubing etc.) as far as possible.  Within this training you are taxing the prime movers and core muscles.

Power Endurance training requires the athlete to lift powerfully for 10 to 30 reps with loads of 25-30% of his or her 1RM. Moves such as dumbbell jump squats, barbell jump squats, dumbbell split lunge jumps, and push presses will attack the prime movers and are specific to hockey training. The key is to maintain quickness and power throughout every rep so that the body’s fast twitch muscle fibers do no fatigue and begin to recruit slower slow twitch fibers.

The increase in fast twitch muscle fibers seen in maximal strength training is linked to the synchronization and the activation of the motor units. As our motor units become more synergistic, the coordination of our other muscles also increases, once again increasing your explosive power.
