TEAM ALLMAX ATHLETE
MEET JO CHO
Growing up in Korea, I was always pretty skinny. In the height of my “athletic career” (AKA in high school), I weighed 110 pounds. I was always the skinny kid in class, always small, and although I was never bullied because of it, it still took a toll on my self esteem. Finally, when I was 17 and moved to the United States, I didn’t want to be known for being the skinny kid anymore and started going to the gym.
Fast forward a year or so to college, I moved across the country from California to VIrginia to attend Liberty University. Although LU is a large school, being a christian university in the middle of Virginia, there wasn’t much to do besides go to the gym. I found myself there for 2-3 hours a day, lifting weights, making friends, and following along to bodybuilding workouts I found on the internet. Like the infamous phrase goes, breakups build bodybuilders, and splitting from my college girlfriend pushed me towards my first competition/show. Although my first show was supposed to be a distraction from my love life, competing in bodybuilding became my love life. I fell in love with the sport, watching my body grow in bulking phases, watching the fat melt away week by week to reveal the body I’ve been working hard on for months, and getting ready to step on stage and prove my hard work to the judges.
ON BEING AN ALLMAX ATHLETE
Something that I wanted since I started bodybuilding. I remember taking Allmax’s Creatine back in high school and I would never imagine becoming one of allmax’s athletes. It is something that I’m truly thankful for. Allmax = family to me.
