How Your Mind DRIVES YOU in the Gym
Here at ALLMAX, one of our main objectives is to help each of you succeed in achieving your goals. But it does not stop there! Once you have reached your (initial) “destination” we want to see you push to the next level. This is precisely why we provide not only the most effective supplements in the industry, but also a myriad of training and nutritional information from top athletes/coaches via constantly updated articles and videos that are readily available to everyone.
Now that we are in a new year let’s challenge OURSELF to become the best possibly you.
It’s time to “drop the hammer” and truly see what you are capable of. And yes, I understand that for many, such a challenge is sometimes easier said than done. However, I can assure you that achieving anything extraordinary always begins IN THE MIND – which, is exactly why I wrote this article.
The extraordinary power of one’s thoughts cannot be denied. Learn to ‘align your mind with your goal,’ and your body will follow!”
Learn to approach each and every workout with an enthusiastic and positive attitude. Expect that you will have a more productive workout today than you did yesterday. Know that the weights are going to feel lighter, and each exercise, more fluid and controlled.
Enjoy the pain. Embrace the pump.
Remain completely aware, and profoundly excited, that each and every repetition performed in this workout will bring you one step closer to your goals. Leave doubt at the door. You WILL have the best workout of your life today…and NOTHING on this earth can stop you!
During every set or every exercise, concentrate fiercely on only what you are doing. While resting, concentrate on what you’re about to do. If you are serious about reaching a new level, then think about just one thing while you are in the gym…
exactly what you need to do to get there!
Put away the cell phone, quit the chatter, and stop procrastinating. Think deeply about the body part you are working on with laser-like focus. Forge the “mind/muscle” connection. And if you want to workout with a partner, make sure he or she is just as passionate about training as you. If you can’t find someone like this, than go it alone! Always remember one thing: Your time in the gym is a gift! Don’t waste a single moment.
There is nothing wrong with patting yourself on the back after a solid set or productive workout – but don’t revel in victory for too long! In other words…
GET OVER IT and GET ON WITH IT!
Set your sights on the next set or next workout and switch your focus onto how you will no go about surpassing your previous accomplishments. “Complacency is the enemy of progress,” so don’t get stuck. Remember, your body is an adaptive machine! You must push further every day to progress to the next level. Kick your butt today, but kick it harder tomorrow! To reach your ULTIMATE potential you cannot merely be hungry…you must be starving!
Never avoid pain, and instead embrace it! Everyone knows the saying, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going!” This applies perfectly to the pursuit of self improvement. There is simply no way around it…
if you want to get to a higher level,
you must learn to deal with pain. In fact, learn to think of it as a dear “friend,” – inviting it in every time you drive through a workout. When pain occurs (unless it is “injury” pain…please learn the difference) while training, do not think this is the end of your set, but rather, just the beginning! Think of pain as a signal. It is telling you that you have entered the into the progress zone.
The juncture of the set that will trigger the physiological mechanisms that will lead to positive change. When your muscles are burning, your heart is racing, and the nausea is overbearing, simply smile, and remember…you are now one step closer to your goal.
If the first few sets of your workout don’t go as well as planned, do not let that get you down, nor let it set the tone for the remainder of your workout. If you attempt to set a personal lifting record and fail, do not get upset. You must regroup,
leave negativity behind
and immediately look ahead. Command of yourself that your next set will be better…and that each successive set will surpass the last! The gym is no place to hang your head low or to allow yourself to sulk! The gym is your sanctuary…your domain…your temple. It is your therapy, your passion. While you are at the gym YOU are the boss and YOU are in control. You make the rules, set the pace, and make the decisions.
Yes, setbacks are bound to occur, but this is when you must dig deep, pick your head up, and drive yourself to oversome! Always keep in mind that
what does not kill you makes you stronger!
Simply put, you must have faith in yourself and faith in what you want from life – both in and out of the gym. If you have faith in your workout program, your dietary regimen, and your supplementation strategy, you will greatly increase your chances of being successful. Believe in your heart that the path you have taken is the right one for you, and do not let anyone or anything get in the way. Surround yourself with people that support your goals, share your belief, and feed your spirit. Faith is the foundation from which you will transform.
Every night before you go to sleep think deeply about exactly what you would like to accomplish. Form a clear vision in your “mind’s eye” of exactly what you want to look like, how you want to perform, and how you wish to feel.
Imagine your optimal SELF!
Then, visualize your workout for the next day from beginning to completion within your head. See the gym, the people, and the equipment. Hear the music relentlessly pounding in the speakers, the weights clanging and the dumbbells smashing onto the floor.
Absorb the atmosphere.
Feel the sweat as it drips from your forehead onto your soaked tee shirt as you perform every rep with masterful precision, inducing the most intense, skin-stretching pump you have ever experienced in your life. Imbed into your subconscious exactly what you want to achieve during your workout (and your overall regimen), and your body will already be pre-programmed to follow!
Never set limits! Do not let anyone tell you what you can and cannot accomplish. Your body is only limited by where your mind is willing to take you.People defy the “laws” of science and reason every day! Nobody ever thought that Roger Maris’ home run record could ever be broken…but it has been smashed more than once! Nobody ever believed a 4-minute mile would ever be run…it is now commonplace!
A 1000 lb. squat was once thought insurmountable…
now there are men that do reps with it! Conceive, believe, and then you will achieve!
Those that are afraid to dream are bound by the limits
that their mind sets for them. DREAMERS see beyond what is and seek out what can be.” So go ahead and dream my friends – and dream BIG! Always look to raise YOUR bar…and once you do, jump right over it and seek out the next hurdle.
